MATARAM - The Mataram City Police Criminal Investigation Unit team found medical waste piled up and scattered in a number of rooms in the area of the former Community Eye Health Center (BKMM) building, West Nusa Tenggara.

The goal, continued Kadek Adi, is to protect and prevent people from entering the area and to avoid the threat of medical waste pollution which has now caused an unpleasant and pungent odor.

This condition is suspected to have occurred since the health service from the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of the NTB Health Service moved in 2018.

The thing that worries him the most is that the building is now a supporting facility for teaching and learning for students at the State 2 Mataram Special School.

"To be safer, we also convey to the school (SLB Negeri 2 Mataram) so as not to approach the police line," he said.

From observations at the location, Kadek Adi and his members found a variety of medical waste that thronged the three rooms and scattered to the front yard area.

From the variety of medical waste, plastic packages containing drugs were found that had piled up in the room. Then used syringes, condoms, IVs, as well as liquid medical materials were found scattered on the front page. There are also found a number of drugs that have not expired.

Kadek Adi ensured that his party had coordinated with the NTB Forestry and Environment Service (DLHK), the NTB Health Service, and the NTB BKMM.

"The goal (coordination) is to find a solution so that it can be followed up immediately, don't leave it for long, because this is disturbing. We are trying to deal with this as soon as possible," he said.
