Four Series Of Indonesian Stamps Depicting Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin And Handling COVID-19

JAKARTA - Not only issuing Rp75,000 banknotes as a form of commemoration of the 75th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia. The government through the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) has also launched four series of limited edition stamps.

One of the stamps launched has a picture of President Joko Widodo and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin. Meanwhile, another series is dedicated to perpetuating the struggle against COVID-19.

"Stamps have an actuality or events that occur at one time. Even though they are small pieces, they are full of meanings containing various phenomena," said Vice President Ma'ruf Amin in a press statement from the Ministry of Communication and Information, Wednesday, August 19.

According to Ma'ruf, stamps have now undergone a shift in meaning, along with the rapid development of technology and information. Even so, postage stamps have become an important part of every historical event for the Indonesian nation and society.

This meaning is described in the Covid-19 response series, which is a form of appreciation for health workers who are at the forefront of fighting the pandemic. "One form of the Government's appreciation to doctors and medical personnel who have shown high enthusiasm and integrity to help others in dealing with the pandemic," he said.

Meaning of Stamps

On the same occasion, the Minister of Communication and Information, Johnny G Plate, explained the four series of stamps published today. The first is a series of stamps from the President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, the second is a series of 75 years in Indonesia, the next is a series on the prevention of Covid-19 and finally a series of famous music group artists.

"Stamps have a high value in international relations, education, and as a promotional medium for all the wealth and excellence of our nation and country. As well as being a tool to perpetuate phenomenal events," said Johnny.

Johnny explained, for the series of stamps on Indonesia's 75th anniversary of independence, it is not only related to containing intrinsic value but also memorabilia, but also Indonesia's struggle against the Covid-19 pandemic. This stamp is a form of appreciation for medical personnel and all parties who are struggling to provide health services to the community.

"They are still struggling to deal with Covid-19 which is our shared responsibility as a nation. We should express our gratitude to health workers and all parties involved who are at the forefront of facing the current pandemic," he explained.

Meanwhile, art stamps of well-known artists and music groups to give awards to artists and music groups who have contributed to developing the art of Indonesian music as well as encouraging the advancement of the world of music and disseminating noble cultural values and struggles in the realm of water through the songs they made.

Meanwhile, the artists or artists and music groups immortalized in this stamp series are Gesang, Bimbo, Gombloh, Panbers, Koes Plus, Titiek Puspa, God Bless, and Chrisye.

Furthermore, Johnny said, the issuance of the four series of stamps was carried out simultaneously because the spirit and message conveyed were in line with the nuances and values of the struggle in celebrating Indonesia's 75th anniversary of independence.
