Police Investigate Case Of Student In Blitar Suicide At School

BLITAR - Police officers from the Srengat Sector, Blitar Regency, East Java, handled the incident of a high school student (SMA) in Srengat District, Blitar Regency, who was found to have died of suicide. The student committed suicide in front of her school's classroom, while other colleagues were having activities in the school hall.

Srengat Police Chief AKP Slamet Yusuf said that the incident was estimated at 12.00 WIB by his fellow students. They were shocked to find the victim had died in a hanging position.

"It was found out at around 12.00 WIB by a colleague who finished the Maulid Nabi activity. It was on the second floor," he said in Blitar, quoted by Antara, Monday, December 20.

AKP Slamet said the victim was found in front of the X-MIPA-4 classroom at SMAN 1 Srengat, Blitar Regency. At that time, there were indeed school activities that entered. There are representatives of 10 children in each class to take part in the Birthday of the Prophet Muhammad SAW in the school hall.

His party also went to the location of the incident as soon as there was a report from the school. Officers evacuated the victim's body and took him to the hospital for an autopsy.

"He was taken to the hospital for further investigation, so that officers can get an overview of the case. The cause is still under investigation. We will follow up later," said AKP Slamet.

Meanwhile, the Principal of SMAN 1 Srengat, Blitar Regency, Sumino was saddened by this incident. According to him, this incident was beyond the control of the school, because there was a Maulid Nabi Muhammad SAW activity in the school hall, so that all teachers and students went to the location.

"We are saddened by this tragedy, this incident is beyond our control, because today there is a Maulid Nabi activity. Then 10 classes are asked to attend, because of the pandemic situation. Activities in the hall, since 07.00 WIB have been absent and gathered there, so all of this (classrooms) are clean. In front there are only a few teachers waiting for preachers," said Sumino.

He also said that the arrival of the student was outside the school's monitoring. From the information he received, the child also had no problems, like other students should.

The student is known to have the initials FV (15), seventh grade, a resident of Selokajang Village, Srengat District, Blitar Regency. At the time of the incident, he was still wearing a gray school uniform.

Currently, his body has been taken to the hospital, while the location of the incident has also been installed by a police line for further investigation.
