The resident who was hit by a tree due to strong winds was declared dead at the Kasiyan Puger Health Center, after the Jember BPBD team and residents took the victim to the nearest Puskesmas.

Based on data from the PB Jember Disaster Management Operations Control Center (Pusdalops) there were seven locations that were hit by the tornado spread over three sub-districts, namely Gumukmas, Puger, and Umbulsari sub-districts.

"Dozens of trees fell in the three sub-districts, some of which were even large and in Mojomulyo Village, Puger District, there was a fallen tree with a diameter of 1 meter blocking the road," he said.

Dozens of fallen trees partially fell on residents' houses, so that four houses were slightly damaged and one house was moderately damaged, and fallen trees across the road disrupted access to traffic on local roads.

He appealed to the people in Jember Regency to be more alert to extreme weather and to proceed to the relevant agencies to trim trees that are considered dangerous to road users or the public.

Meanwhile, the Head of Gumukmas Sub-district, Bobby Arisandi, said that dozens of trees and as many as 42 houses spread across three villages namely Bagorejo, Tembokrejo and Karangrejo villages in Gumukmas District were affected by strong winds.

"The house was damaged by a falling tree hit by strong winds, but there are houses whose only roof tiles were swept away by the wind," he said.
