JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo requested that the commemoration of the 73rd National Defense Day be a momentum to increase the collective spirit in defending the country and building the nation. One of them is working hand in hand in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This was conveyed by President Jokowi in a presidential message read by Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto during the commemoration of the 73rd National Defense Day 2021 at the Ministry of Defense, Jakarta, Sunday, December 19.

President Jokowi reminded that this nation will be strong and great if all elements are able to take a role in making this country even better.

“Let's show that we are a strong nation. Not only is it able to face the war against COVID-19 and the challenges of other nations, but a nation that is able to take advantage of adversity becomes a leap of progress," said President Jokowi in his mandate.

Furthermore, President Jokowi underlined that the challenges faced by the Indonesian people today are not easy. Therefore, it takes fighting power and hard work together to be able to get through difficult times. All countries are competing in the fight against COVID-19, both in controlling the virus and in economic recovery.

“As a big nation, we have to emerge as winners, we have to be optimistic. We have to create opportunities in the midst of adversity. We must answer it all with innovation and real work. We must not stop creating, innovating, and achieving in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic," President Jokowi urged.
