JAKARTA - As many as 582 houses were submerged due to flooding in Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan Province (Kalsel). This incident occurred after heavy rains and the overflow of the Riam Kiwa and Martapura rivers on Tuesday, December 14.

BPBD Banjar Regency said this flood hit the location in Gp. Peunalom I, Gp. Peunalom II, Gp. Layan, Gp. Pulo Mesjid is located in Tangse District. There are at least 120 affected families in this location.

Tunggul Nangka Village in Pengaron District, Sungai Raya Village at Simpang Empat, Melayu Ilir Village, Dalam Pagar Village, Akar Baru Village, Dependent Roots Village, Pakauman Dalam Village in East Martapura District.

Furthermore, Pasar Jati Village, Pingaran Ilir Village in Astambul District, Murung Keraton Village, Murung Kenanga Village, Jawa Laut Village in Martapura District, Telok Selong Village in West Martapura District and Sungai Tabuk District.

Plt. Head of the BNPB Disaster Information and Communication Data Center Abdul Muhari said, based on data from the BNPB Operations Control Center (Pusdalops) as of Friday, December 18 at around 20.00 WITA, flood conditions were still inundated at several points.

"It is observed that the water level on the deda road ranges from 3-5 centimeters, while in the courtyards of residents the water level ranges from 5-30 centimeters. Some affected residents have fled to the nearest family house," explained Abdul Muhari in a statement received in Jakarta. , Friday evening.

BPBD Banjar Regency together with a joint team evacuated the affected residents. A quick assessment is also carried out to determine further actions that need to be taken.

"Based on visual observations, the surface level of the Martapura river has increased to Alert," he added.

BNPB urges the community and local government to remain vigilant and alert. This increase in rainfall has the potential to trigger the risk of hydrometeorological disasters such as floods, landslides and strong winds.
