JAKARTA - The West Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit managed to apprehend the perpetrator of the theft of a bag containing money belonging to a patient's family at a hospital in the Palmerah area, West Jakarta.

The perpetrator with the initials A, was arrested in the boarding room where he was hiding in the Pedongkelan area, Cengkareng, West Jakarta.

"The perpetrator of the theft is a former volunteer ambulance handling COVID-19 at the hospital," said Deputy Head of Criminal Investigation at the West Jakarta Metro Police Niko Purba to VOI, Friday, December 17.

From the results of the police investigation, the perpetrator with the initials A is also a street crime recidivist.

Niko said the incident began when the victim was experiencing an accident. The victim was waiting for his parents to carry out observation for heart surgery.

"When the victim was resting at the hospital mosque, the perpetrators took the victim's belongings," he said.

The arrest of the perpetrators was carried out after the Crime and Jatanras Unit of the West Jakarta Metro Police conducted a crime scene investigation (TKP). From the results of the TKP, the characteristics that led to perpetrator A. A was arrested at his boarding house.

"The confiscated evidence was a motorbike belonging to the perpetrator and the clothes used by the perpetrator during the action," he said.

The perpetrators used the proceeds of crime to buy gold jewelry, tires, and golf clubs. As a result of his actions, perpetrator A was charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code with a threat of 7 years in prison.
