Governor Edy Asked To Imitate Bobby Nasution To Make A Break Without Wasting The Budget

MEDAN - North Sumatra Governor (Gubsu) Edy Rahmayadi was asked to imitate Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution in making policies with a minimal budget.

Head of the Political Science Department at USU's FISIP, Indra Fauzan, said that since being led by Bobby Nasution, the city of Medan has continued to show changes.

Indra explained that Bobby Nasution chose a pro-people policy with a minimal budget. Some activities are carried out with minimal budgets.

"Bobby doesn't seem to want to waste people's money. We can see that he refuses to procure a new official car, this is certainly very good. The huge budget for the procurement of new official car can be diverted to other sectors," said Indra, Friday, December 17.

In addition, he also saw another potential of Bobby's policy. According to him, Bobby has made many breakthroughs.

"He is not even 1 year in office but his performance has been felt enough in the community, it's just a matter of how these bureaucratic officials support his performance in collaborating together to create a bureaucracy that serves and is clean so that the people feel the benefits of the Medan city government's policies. All OPD programs are not project oriented but indeed to a transparent and accountable public service," he explained.

Indra gave the example of Kesawan City Walk which could be a destination for Medan residents.

"As we know, the mayor's commitment is to provide goodness for the citizens of Medan City. This has been seen from several policy breakthroughs that favor the people," he said.

Meanwhile, on the other hand, the Governor of North Sumatra, Edy Rahmayadi, was criticized for the plan to renovate the official residence. Only Rp. 2 billion is budgeted for the procurement of asphalt at the official house.

A political and government observer from USU, Dadang Darmawan, suggested that Governor Edy do the same thing to be closer to the community.

"What the mayor did, at least the governor gave the same thing so that the community could be closer, could have a dialogue. Don't open the door to the community until a major renovation had to be done, right," said Dadang.

Dadang said that the opening of the City Hall door for the community should be used properly by Medan residents to complain, provide information and find solutions.

"What the mayor does is hope that it will be more socialized. Take advantage of the open door provided by the mayor. People take advantage of the open door, I believe it will be easier for people to reach the government to provide information and solutions," he explained.

"I welcome the open door from the community. At the beginning I said I hope the socialization will be better in the community. After all, the community can be closer to the mayor and find solutions to the problems they face," concluded Dadang.
