Omicron Variant COVID Enters Indonesia, Puan Maharani Believes The Government Will Immediately Arrange Other Regulations

JAKARTA - The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, believes that the government has certain considerations in implementing the rules ahead of the 2022 Christmas and New Year holidays. Moreover, with the first case of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in the country.

"But with the first Omicron case found in Indonesia, of course I believe that the government will immediately provide consideration and other regulations regarding this matter," said Puan at the DPR Building, Thursday, December 16.

From the start, the chairman of the PDIP DPP admitted that he had asked the government to anticipate a spike in cases during the year-end holidays. Because, the daily cases of COVID-19 are still there and the pandemic is not over yet.

"Especially with the new variant of Omicron, of course, the government should immediately consider implementing regulations or procedures for dealing with and mitigating," said the former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture.

Do not let, added Puan, the implementation of Christmas and the new year which should have been carried out religiously in accordance with religious tolerance and of course economic matters, turned into a new disaster.

"Don't let there be a spike in COVID-19 after Christmas and New Year," said Puan.
