Police Examine 3 Beaters Of Elementary School Teachers In Bengkulu Because Parents Are Upset With Their Children Reprimand For Hitting Other Students

BENGKULU - Mukomuko Police, Bengkulu, examined three witnesses regarding reports of the alleged beating of a teacher at SDN Mukomuko by three people, one of whom was a student's guardian in Pondok Batu Village.

"We examined the three reported persons as witnesses. If there is sufficient evidence in the examination, they will be transferred to their status as suspects," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit AKP Teguh Ari Aji, quoted by Antarra, Wednesday, December 15.

Previously, as many as 20 more members and administrators of the Mukomuko PGRI visited the Mukomuko Police Headquarters to report the perpetrators of the assault on the teacher of SDN 5 Mukomuko.

Regarding the opportunity for peace between the two parties, the police said it depended on both parties.

"If we can't intervene and direct what if later they are at peace. We follow the procedure first, if the day after tomorrow, please both of them," he said.

Perpetrators of this teacher beating can be entangled in articles 170 and 351 of the Criminal Code concerning Persecution together with a maximum prison sentence of five years.

The head of the Mukomuko Regency PGRI, Rasita, previously said that a Mukomuko City 5 Elementary School teacher named Wayan was allegedly assaulted because previously the teacher had reprimanded a 5th grade elementary school student who beat a grade 1 student.

"When the teacher reprimanded this student, Mr. Wayan brushed the student's cheek and coincidentally this student had thrush," he said.

In relation to this incident, Rasita hopes that the relevant parties will follow up on this issue so that there will be comfort for teachers to teach in schools.

According to him, if something like this happens, the teacher is not comfortable teaching anymore and makes the teacher not feel at home teaching. All parties should be professional in solving this problem, don't be vigilant, it's better if this problem is resolved properly.

Apart from that, according to him, this incident made the teaching profession no longer respected, and PGRI did not accept it because the act was harassing teachers.

"If it happens like this, the comfort of the teacher is no longer there, instead of the teacher asking to move again because of fear of chasing at the school," he said.

He expressed concern that after this incident the teacher only carried out teaching duties, the teacher no longer carried out the function of guiding students.
