SOLO - Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka will review the readiness of the church ahead of the 2021 Christmas celebrations. This is done to ensure the implementation of health protocols.

"I'll use PeduliLindung later," said Gibran in Solo, Wednesday, December 14.

However, he admits, there are several churches that do not yet have a barcode for PeduliLindung.

"Yes, there are some churches that don't have barcodes yet, but don't worry," he said.

In the Circular (SE) of the Mayor of Surakarta Number 067/4904 concerning PPKM Level 2 and the Prevention of COVID-19 Overcoming at Christmas 2021 and New Year 2022 in the City of Surakarta, it regulates the implementation of Christmas worship which is carried out in a "hybrid" manner. Some of those regulated include the church forming a COVID-19 Handling Health Protocol Task Force that coordinates with the Surakarta City COVID-19 Handling Task Force and the number of people who can take part in worship activities and Christmas celebrations in congregation or collectively does not exceed 50 percent of the room's capacity.

In addition, there is also a prohibition on holding parades or processions in commemoration of the 2021 Christmas Day which involves a large number of participants.

"Tomorrow, the Chief of Police and I will tour the church in Solo. We will check PeduliProtect it," he said.

Meanwhile, there are hundreds of churches in the city of Solo with details as many as 16 churches with the category of congregation members above 1,000 people, 22 churches with the category of 500-1,000 congregations, and 131 churches with congregation members below 500 people.
