Achieving 70 Percent Communal Immunity, BIN Targets Vaccination Of 62,120 Residents In South Sumatra

PALEMBANG - The South Sumatra State Intelligence Agency (BIN) participated in the success of the COVID-19 vaccination by targeting 62,120 local residents.

Head of South Sumatra BIN Brigadier General Armansyah said that BIN's involvement in the success of the COVID-19 vaccination was in accordance with President Joko Widodo's direction to achieve 70 percent communal immunity.

On an ongoing basis, BIN Sumsel has held vaccinations in collaboration with the provincial and city health offices. The vaccine target of 62,120 is not only for the general public but for school-age youth 12 years and over.

"Now it is only 65.64 percent of the targeted amount. This activity will continue to be carried out in the future to reach 100 percent," he said in Palembang, Antara, Wednesday, December 15.

Head of the Palembang Regional Post, Binda Sumsel, Lieutenant-Colonel Cpl Gusra Muttaqin, said the latest vaccination scheme initiated by the South Sumatra BIN was the completion of hundreds of students and teaching staff at the special school (SLB) by Mrs. Palembang.

The administration of the vaccine took place in the school building for children with special needs, which is located at Jalan Sosial, Ario Kemuning Village, Kemuning District in collaboration with the local health office.

"This vaccination concept is 'door to door' directly held at schools and free of charge, it turns out to be true, the children were very enthusiastic about participating in the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination. They were accompanied by their parents and teachers," he said.

According to him, the COVID-19 vaccination target for school children will continue to be carried out, including other categories.

This has been seen to have had a positive impact, the city of Palembang has been recorded to have reached more than 70 percent, including the Musi Banyuasin and Prabumulih districts for vaccination of students and the general public.

"Certainly the number of students and people who have been vaccinated will continue to grow. Because BIN will continue to routinely vaccinate students," he said.
