Not Satisfied Burning Middle School In Serambakom District, Papuan KKB Shoots At TNI-Polri During Evacuation Of Residents To Church

PAPUA - As many as 40 residents of Wambakom Village, Serambakom District, Bintang Mountains Regency, Papua, fled to the Catholic Church after an armed criminal group (KKB) burned a public junior high school in the area.

The Head of the Bintang Mountains Police, AKBP Cahyo Sukarnito, said that most of the displaced residents were women, children and the elderly.

While helping to evacuate residents from their homes to the church, joint TNI-Polri personnel were also fired upon by the KKB, resulting in a shootout for more than an hour.

The shootout that occurred from 09.50 WIT to 11.15 WIT was reported to have no casualties from either the members or residents.

Cahyo added that aid personnel could not be deployed yet considering the difficult terrain. The geographical location of Serambakom on the left and right there are hills so that it can be a shooting target.

KKB on Monday morning was reported to have fired at the Brimob Post in Serambakom. The day before, KKB also burned down the SMA Negeri 1 Oksibil building.
