JAKARTA - PT PP (Persero) Tbk (PTPP), a construction and investment BUMN, has successfully completed the construction of the fastest Yogyakarta International Airport project in Indonesia. Construction of the airport could be completed quickly in just eight months.

PTPP's Managing Director, Novel Arsyad, said the airport runway can accommodate the heaviest aircraft, namely the Boeing 777 with full capacity and the largest aircraft, the Airbus 380. The ultimate runway capacity can reach greater than 40 aircraft movements per hour.

"Meanwhile, from the landside side, the terminal capacity at Yogyakarta International Airport is able to serve 20 million passengers per year. Yogyakarta International Airport is the only airport in Indonesia that has a Basement Floor as access to service for employees and tenants," Novel said in his written statement, Saturday 15. August.

Yogyakarta International Airport, which is located in Kulon Progo, was fully operational at the end of March 2020. This project, which has a contract value of Rp.6.98 trillion, has successfully completed the fastest airside zone and the airport with the most concrete usage.

The construction of Yogyakarta International Airport is designed with an environmentally friendly or green building concept where Airfield Flight Lighting (AFL) has used a type of LED light. Other airports still use halogen lamps, so the use of these LED lamps saves more power.

"In addition, in this airport there is a Crisis Center building and a Passenger Terminal Departure Floor which are used as special places for handling and evacuating tsunami disasters," Novel said.

The project owned by PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) is designed with an airport structure that is mitigated against earthquakes and tsunamis. The making of the Yogyakarta International Airport architectural design is designed with the concept of local wisdom and there are art work which involves 46 local artists from the Special Region of Yogyakarta.

In addition, in the architectural design there is also a reflection of the five villages whose land is affected by the construction of an internal airport which is visualized in the form of art work.

President Joko Widodo previously gave testimony during his visit to the Yogyakarta International Airport project.

"This is the job of building the fastest airport in Indonesia that could possibly be in the world, this is very fast," said Joko Widodo.

From the construction side, the structural design plan is able to withstand an earthquake with a magnitude of 8.8 and applies new earthquake parameters to anticipate tsunamis and liquefaction.
