SOLO - Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka ensured that there will be no turning back vehicles during Christmas 2021 and New Year's 2022 following the cancellation of the planned implementation of level 3 community activity restrictions (PPKM) at the end of the year.

"Incoming vehicles are not allowed to turn back, if the random test results show positive or reactive results so that they are immediately handled by the COVID-19 handling task force in the area," he said at the 2021 Christmas and 2022 New Year Preparedness Ceremony in Solo, Antara, Monday. According to Gibran, immigrants who are confirmed positive or reactive will be immediately taken to centralized isolation. The Solo City Government has also prepared a location for centralized isolation.

Random COVID-19 tests will be carried out in districts/cities in coordination with the TNI and Polri. Furthermore, if someone has not been vaccinated, they will be directed to the service post to get the vaccine or antigen.

Regarding the potential entry of newcomers during the Christmas and New Year holidays, based on the results of a survey by the Research and Development Agency of the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia, it shows that the potential for people to travel during the 2021 Christmas and New Year 2022 holidays is 12.8 percent or around 19,976,269 people.

"Of this number 24.5 percent or around 4,825,000 people will travel to the Central Java region. Solo is one of the areas in Central Java that is never deserted from the list of visits, both as a transit city and the final destination for travelers. ," he said.

Furthermore, he hopes that the Surakarta City Government will be able to provide the best services, including in terms of land transportation control strategies for the 2021 Christmas and 2022 New Year transportations.

As for the application of traffic engineering management, he said, it was carried out according to conditions and needs and coordinated with work partners, especially on alternative roads or areas that were undergoing development.
