JAKARTA - The Chief of Staff of the Army, General Andika Perkasa, said that all COVID-19 patients at the Army Candidate School (Secapa) AD have now been declared cured.
"PCR (polymerase chain reaction) lab results from 'swab' continued by patients at Secapa AD to date, there are four more patients who tested negative," said Kasad, in a written statement, Saturday, August 15.
With the latest results stating that four patients were negative for COVID-19, he said, all patients had recovered. "Of the total (originally) 1,308 positive COVID-19 patients in Secapa AD, as of today, none are positive," said Andika.
Previously, as many as 1,308 Secapa AD students were known to be positive for COVID-19 so that various handling efforts were immediately carried out, including quarantine and treatment. One of the efforts made was convalescent plasma therapy for Secapa AD officers who had been declared cured of COVID-19.
The term convalescent plasma therapy refers to the administration of blood plasma from a recovered person to another patient who is on treatment for the same infectious disease.
Blood plasma from people who have recovered is thought to help fight SARS-CoV-2 because it has antibodies that the patient has built up.
