JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said the DKI Provincial Government and management are still looking for solutions to overcome the problem of PT Transport Jakarta (TransJakarta) which recently experienced a series of accidents.

"We'll just have to wait and see what steps will be taken in the future by TransJakarta, of course with the help and support from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government," Riza said when met by reporters at Putri Duyung Resort, Ancol, North Jakarta, Thursday 9 December.

He said the provincial government had urged TransJakarta management to immediately evaluate thoroughly the issue.

The DKI Provincial Government also, said Riza, asked TransJakarta to find the main reason why the TransJakarta bus driver could crash and what the solution and formula for handling it would be in the future.

"Of course we will evaluate everything, as we have said earlier, driving a big TransJakarta bus is not an easy job, moreover the route is generally straight, and it has a barrier. So the driver must get tired quickly, get bored quickly, and quickly sleepy," said Riza.

The Deputy Governor of DKI asked that the solution and formula for handling the TransJakarta rapid transit bus driver be explained clearly so that the driver or fleet driver could be more focused, more concentrated, and not distracted while working.

Previously, PT TransJakarta denied that the TransJakarta driver worked more than the specified time, which had an impact on recent accidents.

"Nothing is more than eight hours. According to the SOP, there is nothing," said PT TransJakarta President Director Mochammad Yana Aditya in Jakarta, Wednesday.

Yana said that her party is currently evaluating the safety guidelines for TransJakarta bus drivers related to accidents in the last few days.

According to him, his party will also follow all directions from the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) regarding the evaluation results related to the TransJakarta bus accident.

Furthermore, Yana said that her party had also summoned the TransJakarta bus operator to conduct a joint evaluation regarding the recent accident.

"We all have the same perception here, don't let us provide different information. Therefore, today we share the same perception of the evaluation factor. Is it human, fleet or environmental factors," said Yana.

Two TransJakarta accidents occurred on two consecutive days, namely on December 2 and December 3, 2021.

On Thursday (2/12), a TransJakarta bus with operator PT Steady Safe crashed into the Police Post at the PGC Cililitan Red Light, East Jakarta. The incident resulted in one TransJakarta Patrol officer being seriously injured.

Then on Friday (3/12), a bus from operator PT Mayasari Bhakti hit the busway separator in front of Ratu Plaza, Senayan, Central Jakarta.
