Puan Maharani's Notes For Jokowi At The Annual Session

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Parliament, Puan Maharani, said that his party would encourage the government, namely President Joko Widodo to improve handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. This will be conveyed in a speech at the Annual Session.

"The DPR is very focused on encouraging the government to improve handling of COVID-19 and its impacts. We convey this as part of the DPR's oversight function," said Puan in a written statement, reported by Antara, Friday, August 14.

He said it was not only the DPR, but all parties hoped that the government could act effectively, swiftly and in an integrated manner to strengthen management in the fields of health, social protection, economic recovery, and public services.

Puan noted that the government's efforts to deal with the spread and impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia are not just now.

When closing the IV session of the DPR for 2019-2020 in mid-July, Puan also conveyed the same thing and asked the government to accelerate the absorption of the budget for the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Through the oversight function of the DPR RI Council (AKD), there are various notes that need the government's attention in order to improve the performance of handling COVID-19 and its effects," he said.

These records according to him, among others, accelerate the effectiveness of the absorption of the budget for handling COVID-19, especially in the fields of health, social protection, sectoral support for local governments, and support for MSMEs.

The DPR RI in 2020 will host the MPR Annual Session, the DPR-DPD Joint Session, and the reading of the 2021 State Budget financial notes, Friday, August 14.

The MPR RI Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR RI and DPD RI will begin at 09.00-11.00 WIB, followed by a speech on government financial notes in the framework of the 2021 RAPBN starting at 14.00 - 16.00 WIB.

The session began with singing the national anthem "Indonesia Raya" and was continued with the opening of the Annual Session by the Speaker of the MPR, Bambang Soesatyo. Then, followed by a Joint Session of the DPR and DPD RI which will be opened by the Chairperson of the DPR RI Puan Maharani.
