Disappointed Not To Meet Anies, Labor: The Governor's Promise Is Only To Make Him Happy

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan did not show himself during a demonstration by a group of workers in front of his office, DKI Jakarta City Hall, today.

The workers held an action to collect Anies' statement regarding the 0.85 percent increase in the DKI Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) in 2022 which was considered insufficient to meet the needs of the workers.

At the 29 November action, Anies had time to go out to meet workers and admitted that he would try to increase the UMP increase. However, today, the workers were disappointed because Anies did not meet them.

"What is certain is that we are disappointed with the Governor because he did not fulfill his promise on November 29. According to all of us, the Governor when he promised on November 29 was spontaneous. It was just for fun," said the chairman of the DPD Confederation of All Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPSI). ) DKI Jakarta AGN William Yani Wea at DKI City Hall, Wednesday, December 8.

William thought that Anies should be able to revise the UMP without having to wait for the approval of the Ministry of Manpower through the letter that Anies sent earlier.

Because, if Anies decides not to use Government Regulation (PP) number 79 of 2015 concerning wages, then the rule used is PP number 36 of 2021 concerning wages.

"It's just a matter of deciding how much inflation will be, how the economic growth will be, it's just a matter of deciding that you don't need to meet stakeholders, you don't need to meet with employers, you don't need to meet workers, you just have to decide," said William.

It was previously known that on November 29, Anies met hundreds of mass workers who demonstrated in front of the DKI Jakarta City Hall to demand changes to the 2022 UMP which had been knocked down. The former Minister of Education and Culture even sat on the asphalt and gathered with the workers.

"Friends, we understand and we are currently jointly fighting for the UMP in Jakarta to rise higher than the current formula," said Anies.

Anies explained that his party has proposed to the Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah to review the formula for determining the 2022 UMP. According to Anies, the formula for determining the UMP is not appropriate to be applied in DKI Jakarta Province, which is based on Government Regulation Number 36 of 2021.

"This formula, if applied in Jakarta, is not appropriate. Therefore, we sent the formula letter to provide a sense of justice. So, we have sent it and now we are in the discussion phase," he said.
