Puan Maharani Government Appreciation: The Cancellation Of PPKM Level 3 Simultaneously Fulfills The Principles Of Justice

JAKARTA - The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, appreciates the government's decision to cancel the implementation of Level 3 Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) simultaneously for all regions in Indonesia during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Puan supports the government's steps that do not generalize the implementation of PPKM during the Christmas and New Year holidays. Where will adjust the situation and conditions of the pandemic in each affected area. According to him, the policy is appropriate because it fulfills the principle of justice.

"I think the government's decision to cancel the implementation of PPKM level 3 throughout Indonesia is the right one," said Puan in her statement, Wednesday, December 8.

Puan assessed that the COVID-19 pandemic, which has been controlled at a low level, should have been taken into consideration. This can be seen from the number of regions that are in the PPKM level 3 category and the achievement of vaccination in Indonesia is also good.

"It's just that it still needs to be further improved, especially child vaccination given the threat of the Omicron variant," said Puan.

The former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture said that the policy taken by the government by imposing PPKM according to regional conditions would reduce the burden on the community. Because, said Puan, the economy which is gradually improving will not be affected.

"PPKM which is adapted to the conditions of each region has fulfilled the principle of justice. We all must be able to understand that fair does not always have to be equal, but fair is how we can put everything proportionally," said Puan.

However, the chairman of the PDIP DPP asked the public to continue to pay attention to the rules imposed by the national government. Puan also reminded industry players to comply with a number of mandatory rules.

"Don't let the softer policies of the government be treated with euphoria so as to reduce vigilance which will result in a re-escalation of COVID-19 cases," said Puan.
