BEKASI - The Bekasi City Government, West Java, has installed shock line markings at a number of points on Jalan I Gusti Ngurah Rai, West Bekasi District to anticipate illegal racing actions that are often carried out on the road.

Head of the Bekasi City Transportation Service, Dadang Ginanjar, said that the installation of the shock line markings was a follow-up to the application from the Bekasi City Police Chief which was submitted in writing through letter numbered B/29/X/2021/Sek Bks Kota dated October 21, 2021.

"The main purpose of installing road markings is to prevent illegal racing activities that often occur on these roads," he said in Bekasi, Antara, Tuesday, December 7.

His party first conducted a field survey on October 26, 2021 before installing a shock line. The Bekasi City Transportation Service, he said, then conveyed the activity of installing shock line markings to the Bekasi City Metro Police via letter numbered 551.1/1783/Dishub-Lalin on December 2, 2021.

"The installation of the shock line markings has now been completed, hopefully it will be useful for the safety of road users," he said.

Dadang said that in general the installation of these markings was carried out in order to realize security, safety, and order for road users.

"The installation is intended in addition to preventing illegal races that occur on the road section as well as to improve traffic safety," he said.

The Bekasi Metro Police Chief, Kombes Aloysius Suprijadi, appreciated the installation of shock line markings on Jalan I Gusti Ngurah Rai for the safety and convenience of road users.

"We have received many reports regarding illegal racing on the road. Hopefully, the installation of these markings will be able to prevent activities that endanger road users," he said.
