Transjakarta Bus Often Accidents, Deputy Governor Asks Operators To Ensure Competent Drivers Are Recruited

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria asked bus operators who are partners of Transjakarta to re-evaluate the recruitment process for drivers. This is related to accidents that often occur in recent times.

Riza urged operators to ensure that the recruited Transjakarta bus drivers must meet the applicable terms and conditions to prevent accidents from happening again.

"All operators who are responsible for preparing vehicles and drivers must ensure that the recruitment process for drivers complies with regulations and must have sufficient experience so that in the future there will be no more accidents," said Riza at DKI City Hall, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, 7 December.

In addition, all Transjakarta bus operators are obliged to pay attention to the health conditions of the drivers on duty. Because, he views the job as a Transjakarta driver is not as easy as other vehicle drivers.

"Driving a Transjakarta bus is not easy. Why? Because the road is straight, boring, left and right there are barriers. So, the distance is very narrow. It takes accuracy, concentration, sufficient experience to avoid accidents," explained Riza.

For information, there were 502 Transjakarta bus accidents that occurred between January and October 2021. As many as 88 percent of the accidents were caused by a Transjakarta bus hitting another object or a single accident.

Recently, accidents often happen to Transjakarta buses. For example, on October 25, 2021, an accident occurred in Cawang, East Jakarta, which left two people dead, namely the driver and passenger of the Transjakarta bus. Meanwhile, 31 passengers were injured.

Apart from Cawang, there was also a single accident in Senen, Central Jakarta. Then, another accident occurred on October 29, 2021, in Gandaria City, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta.

Then, on Thursday, December 2, in front of the Cililitan Wholesale Center (PGC). Then, the next day, there was a single TransJakarta bus accident in front of Ratu Plaza, Jl Sudirman Jakarta.

Then on Monday, December 6, a Transjakarta bus hit the lane separator on Jalan Pramuka. At that time, the bus had just come out of the pool and almost hit a molen truck that had changed lanes. The Transjakarta driver tried to avoid the truck and then hit the separator.

On the same day, a Transjakarta bus for the Puribeta - Blok M route was also involved in a single accident crashing into an empty land next to the Puri Beta 2 bus stop, Larangan, Tangerang City.

In the evening, a Transjakarta bus hit a pedestrian who was crossing in the middle of the road at Jalan Taman Margasatwa Raya, Jati Padang, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, killing him.
