3,206 People From Six Districts In Makassar Affected By Flood

MAKASSAR - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Makassar City, South Sulawesi, stated that temporary data for victims affected by flooding in six sub-districts were 3,206 people spread over 37 refugee points.

"Currently, the focus is on evacuating people affected and exposed to flooding using rubber boats and prioritizing vulnerable groups such as children, pregnant and lactating women, the elderly and people with disabilities," said Makassar BPBD Head, Achmad Hendra Hakamuddin, in Makassar, Tuesday, 7 December.

Currently, a joint team from BPBD, Damkar, Social Service, Health Office, TNI, Polri, Basamas, PMI, Medical Volunteer Team and the community are still working hard to carry out evacuations.

Then, the establishment of public kitchens and health posts by the Social Service, Health Office, and PMI has been carried out.

He explained that heavy rains with high intensity from Sunday, December 5 to Tuesday, December 7 in the Makassar area were one of the causes of the emergence of puddles.

In addition, according to BMKG predictions, the volume of rain that falls will reach 84 to 122 millimeters per day. Likewise, the high rainfall in the upstream, in the Watershed (DAS) overflowed the Jeneberang River and Tallo watershed which passed through the Makassar area which should have emptied into the Makassar Strait.

Data received from the Disaster Emergency Post, the number of affected residents in each of the six sub-districts, Biringkanaya District was 1,508 people with 11 evacuation points.

In this sub-district, six flood locations were recorded, such as the BTP Blok AF complex, Mangga Tiga Housing, Bukagmata Housing, Kotipa Raya-Kodam III Housing, Al Marhama Housing, Ministry of Religion Complex (Daya) and Kampung Kaimbang. Furthermore, Manggala District was affected by 1,214 people with six evacuation points. The flood locations were in Bukit Batu, Kampung Baru, Jalan Toa Daeng, Swadaya Mas Housing, Kejeng Village, Romang Tangaya Village, Kajang Village, Perumnas Antang Blocks 8 and 10 and the Manggala IDI Complex.

In Panakukang District there are 163 people with six evacuation points. Locations affected by flooding are Panaikang Police Dormitory, and BTN Citra Tello. Rappocini sub-district as many as 102 people with six refugee locations. Tamalate District, 57 people with two evacuation points. Flood locations in Malangkeri 3 and Kampung Lette.

And in Tamalanrea District, 162 people were recorded with three evacuation points. Flood locations, in BTP, Block AA, AB, AC, AD, and AE. Nusa Harapan Permai Housing (NHP), Bung Permai Housing Antara Housing, Hamsi Housing, Origin Housing and Hartaco Permai Housing in Tamalanrea Village.

As many as 60 personnel were deployed, along with one multipurpose truck, seven rubber boats, and three ambulances each, field cars and pickups or pickups.
