Residential In Ranjok West Lombok Submerged By 2 Meters Of Flood

MATARAM - The Bhayangkara Residence Housing in Ranjok, Batu Layar District, West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, was flooded Monday morning up to two meters after heavy rains continued to pour since Sunday, December 5.

Information compiled by Antara, Monday, December 6, about 200 families (KK) in the housing complex were affected by the floodwaters and had to be evacuated using rubber boats belonging to the TNI and Polri.

Some residents were evacuated to a neighbor's house that was safer or not flooded. The disaster is thought to have been caused by the collapse of the embankment on the Meninting River.

"Currently the team is still evacuating to the complex," said Dedi Suhaidi, a resident to Antara.

Previously, the bridge that connected the city of Mataram with the tourist attraction area of Senggigi, West Lombok, or to be precise above the Meninting River, Monday, December 6, had been covered with puddles of water from the overflowing river.

From Antara's observations, Monday morning, the puddles have reached an adult's ankles and the bridge has begun to wobble due to flooding from the overflowing Meninting River.

So that the police officers were forced to close the road access both to Mataram City and vice versa to the Senggigi tourist attraction, West Lombok.

Many vehicles, especially motorbikes, got stuck in the puddle and had to push to a safe place because the engine died.

Many residents flocked to flee to Mataram City because their houses, which were located on the banks of the river, were flooded.

Previously, a number of residents in Batu Layar, West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, Monday, December 6, were forced to flee to a safe place after their houses were flooded.

The flood was caused by the overflowing of the Meninting River in the area after heavy rains flushed the surrounding area since Sunday, December 5 until now.

So the police officers had to turn the vehicle back into the area. Most of the residents were forced to flee to the city of Mataram.

"Many residents are still trapped in the flood and have not been rescued from their homes," said one resident, Amin.
