JAKARTA - Commission B for the Economy of the DKI DPRD has summoned the board of directors of PT Transjakarta to ask for an explanation regarding the various bus accidents that have occurred recently.

During the meeting, Member of Commission B of the DKI DPRD, Manuara Siahaan, proposed to create a special committee (pansus) to investigate the cause of the Transjakarta accident.

"If we trace the problem, it must be carried out comprehensively. Commission B needs to make a special committee on Transjakarta. This is specifically to provide excellent service to the community," said Manuara at the DKI DPRD building, Central Jakarta, Monday, November 6.

As regulated in PP Number 12 of 2018, the special committee was formed in a plenary meeting at the suggestion of DPRD members. Members of the Special Committee are made up of at most 25 members, consisting of members of the relevant commissions proposed by each faction.

Transjakarta has indeed collaborated with the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) to thoroughly audit the causes of bus accidents in Cililitan, East Jakarta on Thursday, December 2, and Senayan, Central Jakarta on Friday, December 3.

However, Manuara has doubts about the optimization of the audit results carried out. Because based on the accident case in Cawang on October 25, the DPRD did not receive any information regarding the audit that had been carried out.

"Total audit with KNKT, this terminology is really good. What I want to convey is not only good language, audit, but no output. Because of yesterday's case, we also don't know what the results of the audit with KNKT were," said Manuara.

In addition, Manuara also asked Transjakarta to form a special area for handling safety aspects in Transjakarta operations with great authority.

Because, according to him, the existing Occupational Health and Safety Management System (SMK3) is not enough to prevent accidents from happening again.

"There must be a special field that handles the safety aspect. If necessary, the capacity of the organization's authority that leads safety will be greater so that it can be close to perfection," said Manuara.

"I see that the internal organization does not supervise. SMK3 does exist, but does it have sufficient authority? So, this is an attempt to trace who is the most responsible.

As is known, TransJakarta buses have had accidents at least five times in the last 40 days.

The accident occurred on October 25, 2021 in Cawang, East Jakarta, which left two people dead, namely the driver and passenger of the Transjakarta bus. Meanwhile, 31 passengers were injured.

Apart from Cawang, there was also a single accident in Senen, Central Jakarta. Then, another accident occurred on October 29, 2021, in Gandaria City, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta.

Then, on Thursday, December 2, in front of the Cililitan Wholesale Center (PGC). Then, the next day, there was a single TransJakarta bus accident in front of Ratu Plaza, Jl Sudirman Jakarta.
