Denpasar-Badung Bali Floods, Fallen Trees

BADUNG - Heavy rains that hit Bali caused flooding in a number of areas in Denpasar and Badung. Trees were also reported to have fallen.

Acting (Plt) Head of the Badung Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), I Wayan Wirya said the flooding occurred due to high rainfall on Monday, December 6 in the morning.

"The flooding was due to high rainfall. We have spread our energy with limited personnel. We have assigned it to South Badung, half of the fallen trees in the North (Badung) part," Wirya told reporters.

The officers have gone to the field to try to overcome the flood with the help of a pump machine from

Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Badung Regency. Meanwhile, the flood points are in North Kuta, South Kuta and Kuta.

"If there are some floods in North Kuta, there are also areas in front of the Badung BPBD Office, on Jalan Kunti, Kuta, on Jalan Kartika Plaza and Sunset Road Kuta and as in Jimbaran, South Kuta," he added.

The water level varies. Currently the flood is receding.

Meanwhile, Denpasar City BPBD Secretary Ardy Ganggas said there were three flood points, namely North Denpasar, South Denpasar and West Denpasar.

"There are also some points, but because of the low topography and in the western region there are several housing (flooded by water). Because of the topography when there is a lot of water so it is inundated. But now it is gradually starting to decrease," he said.

In addition, a number of trees were also reported to have fallen. BPBD also recorded a landslide on Jalan Tunjung Tutur, Denpasar.

“Currently there is a change in the La Nina weather and to be precise again in December. We know that in December (rainfall) increases, there is also a change in the weather called La Nina. We have predicted and there will be a time of rain with a long enough duration and we have anticipated it," said Ardy.
