PALEMBANG - The Sriwijaya University Alumni Family Association (IKA Unsri) returns to campus. They formed an advocacy team to assist female students who were victims of sexual harassment by unscrupulous lecturers to get justice in the case.

Because they suspect that there was an act of intimidation from campus officials towards the victim, after the person concerned decided to take legal action to resolve the case.

"In addition to a call from conscience as an alumni of Unsri. We have to form this team, because we suspect that there are efforts to hinder and intimidate victims who decide to take legal action,” said the head of the IKA Unsri advocacy team, MA Yan Iskandar in Palembang, Sunday, December 5.

According to him, one example of the intimidation in question is the alleged deletion of the name of a female student who was harassed from the list of judicial participants in the agenda that had been unilaterally scheduled earlier.

Not to mention, he continued, during the judicial procession, the victim was allegedly held captive in the toilet hall of the Faculty of Economics, Indralaya campus, Ogan Ilir Regency on Thursday, December 3 morning.

The alleged confinement incident was obtained from the testimony of witnesses who were directly at the scene.

"In the judiciary there was an incident of confinement of the victim," he said.

He explained, based on statements from witnesses, the victim who was allegedly being held captive kept screaming for help to be removed from the toilet.

Then, the victim's screams were heard by a witness who happened to pass near the toilet, until finally the frightened victim was rescued.

"The witness is a lecturer who happened to pass near the toilet. Hearing the victim's screams, he asked who was inside, then the victim who recognized the lecturer's voice shouted, sir, please help me be held," he said.

The witness suspected, he continued, that the confinement contained an intentional element because in the incident the witness saw that there were five people suspected of being on guard in front of the toilet.

"At that time the witness saw that there were five people standing guard in front of the toilet," he said.

Meanwhile, the coordinator of the IKA Unsri Advocacy team, Sri Lestari Kadariah, said, based on these findings, there were two legal facts that occurred.

First, that there was an alleged abuse of female students as victims by unscrupulous lecturers and then the confinement of the victim during the judicial momentum.

So according to him, the team will provide legal assistance to the events experienced by the victim.

"This is not allowed. It is his right to attend the judiciary. Therefore, we will oversee this case. The rectorate should open up so that the real facts are revealed. Then we urge the police to seriously guard this case until the trial process," he said accompanied by the team's victim assistance coordinator. IKA Unsri M Widad advocacy.
