BNPB Deploys TRC And Pushes Logistics For Emergency Management Of Mount Semeru Eruption

JAKARTA - Emergency handling after the eruption of Mount Semeru is still being carried out by various parties, one of which is evacuation and community service for refugees.

Tonight BNPB sent a rapid reaction team (TRC) to provide assistance in handling emergencies. BNPB also sent logistical assistance which was sent today, along with the TRC and representatives of ministries and agencies.

“Tonight we sent TRC to assist local governments. The team will depart by land and bring logistical assistance, such as blankets, ready-to-eat meals, tarpaulins, emergency tents, mattresses, and other basic logistics," said Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Lt. Gen. Suharyanto in a written statement, Saturday, December 4.

The head of BNPB will head to Lumajang Regency to ensure quick and appropriate handling of disaster emergencies, particularly the evacuation and handling of injured victims.

In addition, Suharyanto also wants to help and ensure that basic needs are provided for the affected residents. The local BPBD is still continuing to collect data on the displaced residents.

Temporary data today, December 4, at 18.49 western Indonesia time, the points of the displaced residents are at the Penanggal Village Hall, safe houses of local residents, the Jarit Mosque, and the Sumberwuluh village hall.

Meanwhile, Deputy Regent of Lumajang Indah Amperawati said that around 300 families had evacuated. They came from Curah Kobokan, Supiturang Village. Indah was at the Penanggal Health Center to monitor residents who were victims of the eruption.

She said that some villagers had fled and only a few people were left who were later evacuated.

"Lastly 1 hour ago there were still 10 people who could not be evacuated because the location was difficult," she said.

Indah said there was still 1 resident who died from the Kobokan Bulk and had been successfully evacuated. In Sumberwuluh Village, Renteng Village where the sand mining area is located, it is estimated that two people are missing.

"Can't be found yet. Eight people trapped in the mine owner's office. The volcanic material is still hot," she said.

The injured victims were temporarily recorded as 41 people who had been evacuated to the Penanggal Health Center. Most of the injured residents were referred to several hospitals, such as Haryoto Hospital, Bhayangkara Hospital, and Pasirian Hospital.

Regarding the impact on the residential sector, Indah observes that almost all houses were destroyed in the Kobokan Curl. Residents affected by the eruption took refuge temporarily at the Penanggal Village Hall.

In addition to victims and damage in the residential sector, there is a broken bridge, namely Gladak Perak. This condition resulted in residents in Pronojiwo unable to go to the Lumajang area.

“Some of my friends had to go through Malang. BPBD and Malang Regency Social Service please help to open a post for refugee camps and public kitchens to serve residents in Pronojiwo," said the Deputy Regent of Lumajang.

In addition, many trees that fell on the national road to Malang were blocked.

Head of BNPB Suharyanto informed that his party had coordinated with the TNI Commander to request support for personnel and equipment. He also hopes that the Lumajang Regency Government and the East Java Provincial Government will ensure the handling of people affected by the eruption.

"We ask the public to remain calm, be vigilant and continue to follow official information from the government, PVMBG, BNPB, BPBD, and local governments and not to be triggered by untrue issues," he added.

The head of BNPB said local authorities were still ensuring the evacuation process for residents. Temporary information, there is no information about mountain climbers who were trapped during the eruption.

Meanwhile, the Lumajang Regency BPBD is still confirming whether there are still sand miners trapped when the incident occurred. So far, there have been no reports of casualties.
