Frequent Accidents, Director Of Transjakarta Warns Drivers To Limit Speeds To No More Than 50 Km/Hour

JAKARTA - President Director of PT Transport Jakarta (TransJakarta) Mochammad Yana Aditya warned TransJakarta drivers not to exceed 50 kilometers (Km)/hour while operating. This follows the incident of five accidents that occurred in the span of 40 days.

"We are briefing all drivers not to speed. We have a speed SOP not to exceed 50 kilometers per hour," he said at a press conference at the Transjakarta head office, Cawang, East Jakarta, Saturday, December 4.

As is known, in a period of 40 days there were at least five accidents, namely in Cawang, East Jakarta, which caused two deaths, namely the driver and passenger of the Transjakarta bus.

Apart from Cawang, there was also a single accident in Senen, Gandaria, and on Thursday, December 2 in front of the Cililitan Wholesale Center (PGC). On this Friday, a single TransJakarta bus accident occurred in front of Ratu Plaza, Sudirman Street, Jakarta.

Currently, said Yana, TransJakarta is conducting an audit in collaboration with the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT). The audit was carried out thoroughly. Both the fleet, driver (driver), and bus routes.

"We are conducting a thorough audit with the KNKT," he explained.

Yana explained the reason for choosing KNKT to conduct the audit, because the agency is credible in the field of transportation safety. Later, said Yana, every recommendation from the KNKT will be a reference for improvement. Especially regarding safety in bus operations.
