MK Land Mafia Worth IDR 2.4 Billion In South Kalimantan Arrested By Police

BANJARMASIN - The South Kalimantan Regional Police (Polda Kalsel) arrested two land mafia perpetrators in Banjar Regency who cost victims up to IDR 2.4 billion.

"The suspects with the initials AY and MK were arrested after committing fraud in the sale and purchase of land belonging to others without rights," said Head of Public Relations of the South Kalimantan Police, Kombes Mochamad Rifa'i, in Banjarmasin, Friday, December 3.

The police investigation began with the report of the victim who had just bought a plot of land on Jalan Tatah Layap, Kertak Hanyar District, Banjar Regency to the perpetrator.

However, later on, the land purchased turned out to belong to someone else, not the Constitutional Court, which the suspect admitted to the victim.

Feeling cheated by paying Rp2.4 billion for the purchase of land, the victim also reported to the South Kalimantan Police, whose case was handled by Sub-Directorate 1 of the General Criminal Investigation Directorate.

"So there are parties who claim to be the legal owners of the land by showing the original documents and never giving the power of sale to the two suspects," said Rifa'i. It didn't take long after the victim's report, the joint team of Sub Directorate 1 Ditreskrimum was backed up by the South Kalimantan Tigers and the Jatanras Polres. Banjar and Jatanras Polres Banjarbaru led by AKP Endris Ary Dinindra arrested the reported party on Tuesday, November 23.

Now investigators are still developing the case whether there is involvement of related service officers or unscrupulous Land Deed Makers (PPAT) in the fraud case of buying and selling land.

Rifa'i reminded the public to be even more vigilant against fraudulent acts of buying and selling land by properly checking the legality of documents, so that it is not easy to become a victim of the land mafia action which is now troubling.
