Casualties Fall, Cyber I Mampang Building Incident Immediately Investigate Alleged Criminal Elements

JAKARTA - The Cyber I building fire incident, Jalan Kuningan Barat, Mampang, South Jakarta, which killed two people, prompted the South Jakarta Metro Police to conduct a more in-depth investigation regarding the presence or absence of criminal elements.

Head of the South Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Adjunct Senior Commissioner of Police Ridwan, said the investigation was to determine whether or not there was an element of negligence or intent in the incident.

"We have taken steps to carry out investigative activities related to this (Cyber 1 building fire)," said AKBP Ridwan, Thursday, December 2, evening.

Ridwan said, as an initial step in the investigation, his party will conduct a crime scene (TKP). He added that investigators will also examine a number of witnesses related to this fire case.

"Yes, we will examine the witnesses, in this case the Resort Police will carry out further investigations," said Ridwan.

Previously, the Cyber Building caught fire when sparks appeared in the server room on the second floor on Thursday at around 12.00 WIB.

The spark created a puff of smoke, causing panic among employees in the building. Officers arrived at the location at around 12.41 WIB and immediately extinguished the source of the fire on the second floor.

Officers also evacuated three victims who were trapped on the second floor of the building. One victim with the initials SF died on the spot, while MRK was unconscious.

However, when he was treated at the hospital, MRK's life could not be saved.

"The 18-year-old died at the scene, the other died when he was taken to the Mampang Hospital," said Head of Public Relations of the South Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkamart) Service, Mulat Wijayanto.

One more victim was declared safe and is still under medical treatment.
