KUPANG - The Public Company for the Logistics Affairs Agency (Bulog) of the East Nusa Tenggara Regional Office has prepared five tons of fortified rice to help tackle the problem of stunting or stunting in Kupang Regency.

"Especially for Kupang Regency, we have prepared fortivit rice for 382 under-fives under the red line (BGM), which if multiplied by three months, there will be a total of 5 tons of fortified rice," said the head of the Bulog Regional Office of NTT Asmal in Kupang, as quoted by Antara, Thursday, December 2 .

This was conveyed after monitoring the implementation of providing nutritious food for malnourished children in Bokong Village in order to help the provincial government eradicate stunting in NTT.

He explained that as a state-owned enterprise (BUMN) engaged in the food sector, Bulog also has a concern for improving community nutrition, through the provision of quality food, namely fortified rice.

In his speech in front of the residents of Bokong Village, Asmal explained that this fortivit rice is rich in vitamins A, B1, B3 and B6 and B9 which are very good as a solution and strategy for fulfilling community nutrition programs to prevent stunting or stunting.

“This rice contains special minerals to prevent stunting. It is included during the rice packing process. Mothers can also make porridge for their children so that the nutrition increases," he added.

In addition to efforts to deal with stunting, in collaboration with doctors from Trisakti University and the Kupang Regency Government, his party also held free treatment for residents in the village, which in total reached 450 people.

"Yes, I hope this is useful for the residents here," he added.

Not only that, Bulog NTT together with doctors from Trisakti University also made house-to-house visits to check the health of a number of elderly people and stunted children in the village.

In response to this, the Taebenu sub-district head, Eliaser Manesi, assessed that what was done by the NTT Bulog was something that should be appreciated.

Regarding the handling of stunting in Bokong Village, he said, the village is the village with the second most stunting cases in the sub-district with the number of stunting children reaching 50 people.

"Therefore, the prevention efforts carried out by the NTT Bulog in collaboration with doctors from Trisaksi University should be appreciated," he said.

According to him, the provision of fortified rice for the community in this sub-district needs to be carried out to reduce the stunting rate. But of course people have to buy it at an affordable price.

"Honestly, we hope that this free medical activity will continue to be carried out," he added.
