Polda Metro Does Not Implement Special Security To Guard 212 Reunion, Only Traffic Diversion

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya stated that they did not apply special security related to the 212 Reunion at the Arjuna Wiwaha Horse Statue, Central Jakarta today. The police are just taking precautions to avoid crowds.

"We are just anticipating it, meaning that there are no crowds in the area, especially the Horse Statue," said the Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Zulpan to reporters, Thursday, December 2.

The reason for not carrying out special security is because the activity is not licensed. But, admittedly, for now only a traffic diversion scheme is applied.

"So there is nothing in particular that there is no reinforcement," said Zulpan.

"That's all, maybe there are no other (traffic diversions), it's just normal," continued Zulpan.

Previously, the police did not allow the 212 Reunion to be held at the Arjuna Wiwaha Horse Statue, Central Jakarta, on the grounds that it was still during the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, no one can be sure that the entire mass has been vaccinated.

"We are alert if a crowd gathers in one place, say at the Horse Statue, who can confirm that they have all been vaccinated? let alone coming from outside Jakarta," Zulpan.

However, Zulpan stated that the National Police, especially the Polda Metro Jaya, did not prohibit these activities. However, it would be better if it was held online. Thus, the transmission of COVID-19 can be prevented because there are no crowds.

"They can do this reunion activity, say online," said Zulpan.
