Preventing Mass Movement To Jakarta, Sukabumi Police Tighten Borders

SUKABUMI - The Sukabumi Police, West Java, has tightened security and surveillance in border areas by alerting its personnel assisted by other security forces to prevent the movement of masses who want to join the 212 reunion in the Special Capital Region (DKI) Jakarta.

"There are several points that we have increased security for, such as the Sukabumi-Bogor border area, precisely in Benda Village, Cicurug District, Sukabumi Regency, alternative roads that connect with other areas and rat routes," said Sukabumi Police Chief AKBP Dedy Darmawansyah, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, 2 December.

According to Dedy, tightening security at the border is to prevent mass from Sukabumi leaving for the 212 reunion, namely by blocking the Sukabumi-Bogor-Jakarta route.

This step is taken so that there are no crowds that have the potential to spread COVID-19 and can have an impact on a spike in the addition of positive confirmed cases of this deadly virus. In addition, the partition is for the sake of humanity, lest this mass action triggers the third wave of spikes in COVID-19 cases.

Dedy emphasized that what his party was doing was for the common good, especially since the addition of COVID-19 cases in Sukabumi Regency was still happening, therefore residents, especially those who participated in the 212 reunion, had to cancel their intentions and it was better to pray at their homes.

Because, it is possible after returning from Jakarta to contract COVID-19 and when you get home, you can re-infect this deadly virus to loved ones, be it parents, children, wives, and others.

"For Sukabumi residents who want a reunion, they don't need to come to Jakarta because they are afraid of the spread of COVID-19. Therefore, it is better to pray at home with their families," he urged.
