JAKARTA - The National Police explained the role of two suspected terrorists with the initials M and MM who were arrested in East Luwu, South Sulawesi. Both are members of Tholiyah, part of the Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) terrorism network.

"(Suspected terrorist MM) This is the same as the first suspect (suspected terrorist M) including the JI group and the person concerned is also a member of Tholiyah in the South Sulawesi region," said Karo Penmas of the Public Relations Division of the Police Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono to reporters, Wednesday, 1 December.

As members of Tholiyah they are in charge of preparing a meeting place or lodging for guests from the group. Then, they also kept the weapons belonging to the group.

"As a member of Tholiyah, he is also in charge of storing and securing weapons belonging to the JI group in the Sulawesi region," said Rusdi.

On the other hand, Rusdi detailed the involvement of each of the suspected terrorists. For M, it was recorded that he had undergone natural tadabdur on Bulo Uloe Island, Bone Bay, using an M16 type of firearm, in 2003 and 2006.

Then, the suspected terrorist M also received two firearms (senpi) in 2010. The rifles were also given to the suspected terrorist named Heri to be used for training in Kolaka, Southeast Sulawesi in 2011-2012.

"In 2010 receiving a package of weapons in the form of one FNC weapon and a baby M 16 weapon from Reza has been arrested in Poso and also from Fitri has also been arrested in Poso," said Rusdi.

"Receiving a 5.56 mm caliber ammunition package from Toha, he has also been arrested in Poso and handed over to Siyono to be used for padrib activities in Kolaka," he continued.

Meanwhile, the suspected terrorist with the initials MM was also recorded to have tested the M 16 rifle with Bahar alias Slamet in 2003. The test was carried out during training in Bone Bay. Furthermore, the suspected terrorist M also surveyed Mount Mulupulu and Mount Patah. The goal is to serve as a training ground for JI members in 2004.

Finally, the suspected terrorist MM also had time to build a firearms storage area. Where, he obscured the storage area in one of the culverts in the East Luwu area, in 2006.
