Anies Exhibits TGUPP's Work For The Coastal Zone Of Jakarta

JAKARTA - The work of the Governor's Team for the Acceleration of Development (TGUPP) of DKI in the Coastal Management Sector has yielded results. They make a master plan or work plan for the arrangement of the Jakarta coastal area.

DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said this master plan became a reference for the Food, Marine and Fisheries Security Service, Bina Marga Service, Transportation Service, and North Jakarta Mayor to make arrangements.

"This marks the completion (TGUPP) of the coastal committee, with the existence of a master plan that we will use as a guideline," said Anies at City Hall, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Central Jakarta, Monday, December 23.

Anies claims, TGUPP prioritizes the principle of environmental sustainability and the principle of justice in preparing a structuring scheme on the coast of Jakarta.

Former Head of TGUPP for Coastal Management, Marco Kusumawijaya, continued that their master plan study covered several arrangements, such as green open spaces, ports, docks, coastal settlements, mangrove areas, integration of public transport, expansion of public beaches, and several other developments.

"We know that there are a lot of disadvantaged areas on the coast, that is what we improve with more accessible transportation, by improving housing and improving infrastructure," explained Marco.

Meanwhile, the arrangement of public areas that will be built is the addition of green open space in Kamal Muara, Cilincing, Kali Baru, Marunda, and several other points. In addition to RTH, there will be arrangement of mangrove areas in Kamal Muara and around Si Pitung House.

The finished reclaimed island, as said by the Governor, will become a public beach, but we will not proceed with the one that has not been reclaimed. Even though the master plan for the coastal area has been prepared, the plan for structuring the reclamation island has not been prepared in detail.

"For the island reclamation area, what function will we still discuss in detail. Of course there are technical limitations, but most importantly the needs of the public themselves," he said.

For information, the TGUPP for Coastal Management is mandated to formulate a strategy to stop the development of reclamation and arrangement of Jakarta's coastal areas. The legal basis is Governor Decree No.1042 of 2018 concerning Regional Strategic Activities.

Specifically, the mandate is written in Regional Strategic Activity number 53, namely the management of the Jakarta bay coastal area through the preparation of a policy plan and an agenda for the rehabilitation of Jakarta's coastal ecosystem, including an environmental audit of the island for reclamation.

During the process, TGUPP in the Coastal Management Sector, in collaboration with all related OPDs, academics and the community, formulated a new face policy for the management of the Jakarta coastal area.
