Positive Cases Of COVID-19 In Bekasi Regency Start To Rise, Task Force: Not Significant

JAKARTA - The case of COVID-19 in Bekasi Regency, West Java, has again shown an increasing trend, although not significantly. But because of that, the status of the implementation of restrictions on community activities (PPKM) in Bekasi Regency has increased to level two.

Spokesperson for the Bekasi Regency COVID-19 Task Force, Alamsyah, said the Bekasi Regency COVID-19 alert level had increased along with other regions in the Jabodetabek agglomeration area, including Bogor City.

The increase in the level of restrictions is stated in the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs (Inmendagri) Number 63 of 2021 concerning PPKM Levels 3, 2 and 1 COVID-19 in Java and Bali. And all due to the increase in the number of daily cases.

Based on data from the West Java (Pikobar) COVID-19 Handling Information and Coordination Center (Pikobar), Bekasi Regency is an area that is included in the top five highest confirmed COVID-19 cases in West Java. As of Tuesday, November 30, there were 33 confirmed positive cases in Bekasi Regency.

However, Alamsyah did not explain the trigger for the increasing number of cases in Bekasi Regency. What he confirmed was that there were no clusters that caused the trend of cases to rise again.

"There are several daily additions of cases. Not significant. Then there are no new clusters," Alamsyah said, Wednesday, December 1, quoted from Antara.

Based on the results of an assessment by the World Health Organization (WHO), the increase in cases in Bekasi Regency, the Jabodetabek agglomeration area, and Bali was due to a decrease in the tracing (screening) number of each positive case.

Alamsyah said that this increase in cases caused a number of activities to be limited, including face-to-face education, which was only a maximum of 50 percent of the total capacity.

Then places of worship become 75 percent of the total capacity. Likewise, restaurants and shopping centers are limited to only 50 percent of the total capacity.

"This restriction is also in preparation for PPKM Level 3 during the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays," he said.
