Dispar Denpasar: PPKM Level 3 For 'Gas-Brake' Tourism

DENPASAR - Head of the Denpasar Tourism Office, Dezire Mulyani, emphasized that the PPKM Level 3 that was reinstated was a "gas and brake" effort for tourism so that Bali would not be fooled by the emergence of a new variant of Omicron originating from an African country.

"The central government will implement PPKM Level 3 on December 24, 2021 and the quarantine period will be enforced for 7 days, so that the Bali tourism sector can find it difficult," he said in Denpasar, Tuesday, November 30.

This difficulty will occur, because the Christmas and New Year holidays are actually optimism from the Tourism Office to increase tourist visits, but the regulation will make the visit target miss what was previously predicted.

An extension of the quarantine period for 7 days can certainly have an impact on foreign tourist visits to Bali, because the regulation also makes foreign tourists hesitate to come to Indonesia because of changing policies.

"We understand that there is a new variant from Africa, so we follow the government's recommendation to implement PPKM Level 3. Hopefully, Omicron will not enter Indonesia," continued Dezire.

According to the Head of the Denpasar Tourism Office, the implementation of PPKM Level 3 will limit visitors to tourist attractions in Denpasar by 50 percent.

"With the PeduliLindung application, it will be able to help to suppress the buildup in these tourist attractions. If the tourist attractions are full, then tourists are not allowed to enter or come the next day," he said.

For the promotion of Bali tourism in order to attract foreign tourists to visit Bali, the Denpasar Tourism Office has so far carried out virtual promotions, so that foreign tourists always remember Bali.

"We always promote tourism and Balinese handicraft products abroad virtually. We take this step so that they can return to vacation on the island of Bali, even in the midst of a pandemic. Technically, we return to the rules in their country," said Dezire.
