KPK Deposits Fines Of Up To Hundreds Of Millions To The State From Former Bengkulu Governor Ridwan Mukti

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has deposited Rp800 million into the state. This deposit was made after former Bengkulu Governor Ridwan Mukti and his wife, Liliy Martiani Maddari paid the fine.

Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Ali Fikri said the two inmates paid the fine in accordance with the Supreme Court Decision Number: 1219 K/Pid.Sus/2018 dated 16 September 2018 Jo Decision of the Corruption Court at PT Bengkulu Number: 4/Pid.Sus- TPK/2018/PT BGL dated March 28, 2018.

"The KPK execution prosecutor team has deposited Rp800 million from the convicts as payment for the criminal penalty," Ali told reporters, Friday, November 26.

Furthermore, the KPK will continue to collect fines for corruption convicts. This, Ali said, was done as a step to save state finances.

"The collection of criminal fines by the Corruption Eradication Commission against corruption convicts will continue to be carried out as a step to continue to be able to provide income for the state treasury as part of efforts to recover assets for corruption crimes," he said.

For information, Ridwan and Lily are convicts in the bribery case of a road improvement project in Bengkulu. Both were proven to have received bribes of Rp. 1 billion from the Director of PT Statika Jhony Wijaya through Lily's confidant.

Initially, both were sentenced to 8 years in prison with a fine of Rp. 400 million at the Bengkulu Corruption Court. However, this sentence was increased to 9 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 400 million, subsidiary to 8 months in prison.

Not only that, the additional punishment in the form of revocation of Ridwan's political rights was also increased. If at the Corruption Court, this sentence is only two years at the appeal level, his political rights are revoked for five years after serving the main sentence.
