JAKARTA - Mount Sinabung in Karo Regency, North Sumatra, erupted again on Monday, August 10 at 10.16 WIB.

Based on observations, the height of the ash column is approximately 5,000 meters above the peak or 7,460 meters above sea level.

The Mount Sinabung Observation Post of the Geological Agency and PVMBG of the Mount Sinabung Observation Post, stated that the ash column was observed to be gray with thick intensity leaning east and southeast.

Reported by Antara, currently Mount Sinabung is at Level III (Alert) Status. For this reason, the community and visitors / tourists should not carry out activities in the villages that have been relocated.

Likewise, locations within a radial radius of 3 km from the summit of Mount Sinabung, and a sectoral radius of 5 km for the south-east sector, and 4 km for the east-north sector are prohibited from carrying out activities.

If there is a rain of ash, people are advised to wear masks when leaving the house to reduce the health effects of volcanic ash.

The residents were also asked to secure clean water facilities and clean the roofs of houses from dense or thick volcanic ash so that they do not collapse.

In addition, people who live near the rivers that head up on Mount Sinabung need to be aware of the dangers of hot and cold lava floods.
