Supporters Like Oil And Water, The Anies-Puan Duet Is Predicted To Be Difficult To Win

JAKARTA - The proposal for the duet of DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and DPR Chair Puan Maharani in the 2024 Presidential Election is increasingly coming to the fore. The PDIP politician Effendi Simbolon has long echoed the discourse, now the discourse is being discussed again. In fact, not a few consider the pair to be a complete package or an all-in-one.

Political communication observer at Esa Unggul University, Jamiluddin Ritonga, said that the proposal to pair Anies Baswedan and Puan Maharani in the 2024 presidential election had its pluses and minuses.

"Plus, the duet of Anies and Puan can automatically be promoted by PDIP. This party is the winner of the 2019 election and can carry the presidential and vice presidential pairs themselves. That way, Anies no longer needs to look for a political party to carry him," said Jamiluddin in Jakarta, Friday, November 26. .

This pair, he continued, is also a combination of religious and nationalist. So that it can accommodate prospective voters.

"Like it or not, being religious and nationalist is a mirror of Indonesian society," he said.

In addition, Jamiluddin assessed that the duet between Anies and Puan would be carried by a political party with militant cadres. This guarantees that the pair will be supported by a solid political machine that is easily moved by the PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri.

"The minus is that the Anies and Puan duo are supported by different forces. In general, Anies supporters do not like Puan and PDIP. On the other hand, Puan supporters and PDIP cadres do not like Anies," Jamiluddin explained.

"So Anies and Puan's supporters are like oil and water, so it is difficult to unite," he continued. Jamiluddin predicts that the supporters will not unite to raise the Anies and Puan duo, but will have the opportunity to cancel each other out.

"Therefore, the chances of winning the Anies and Puan duo in the 2024 presidential election are relatively small. That estimate will fail, if the Anies and Puan duo only face a puppet pair who are prepared to lose," he said. Previously, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) politician, Effendi Simbolon, had suggested that the Chairperson of the PDIP DPP, Puan Maharani, collaborate with the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan in the 2024 presidential election.

According to him, the vice presidential candidate (cawapres) accompanying Puan in the 2024 presidential election should not be the General Chair of the Gerindra Party, Prabowo Subianto.

"I have a suggestion, I said that Mba Puan should be paired with Anies, yes, no longer Prabowo. So, Miss is the presidential candidate, Anies is the vice presidential candidate," said Effendi, Monday, May 31.

He said the Puan-Anies duet could be a form of nationalist and religious reconciliation. According to him, there is a more interesting value if Puan plays a duet with Anies compared to Puan and Prabowo in the 2024 presidential election.

Effendi also suggested that Gerindra be one of the political parties supporting the Puan-Anies pair in the 2024 presidential election.

"Come on, where else do you want to find a gap, nationalists and religious are all united, what are you trying to do. That's just something. If it's just Prabowo-Puan, in my opinion, there's nothing new," he said.
