PAPUA - Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri hopes that the presence of 2,000 non-commissioned officers in the National Police can eliminate the violence that is still rife in Papua.

"Hopefully, with the duty of Papuan-born children in the police force, we can reduce the violence perpetrated by certain groups, including armed groups," Fakhiri said as quoted by Antara, Thursday, November 25.

Fakhiri said that he is currently still in Gorontalo to meet with 145 non-commissioned officers who were educated at SPN Gorontalo. To the participants at SPN, Fakhiri did not forget to give a message to always use one's conscience when on duty.

Especially for students who will serve in the delivery area. For example, those from the Puncak Polres will return to duty in the area. Later, he said, when they serve as members of the National Police, they are expected to provide color, especially in handling various security disturbances

"Because they understand more about cultural customs," he explained.

After completing education and being declared graduated students at SPN will be trained again for a month. of them will also be stationed in Brimob.

For Brimob, he said, it is possible to take around 500 people so that in the future it will reduce the deployment of Brimob from outside Papua.

"Adding Brimob members so that there are no more political voices, as was the case when bringing in Brimob from outside Papua, which has a different approach," he said.

He said as many as 2,000 noken non-commissioned officers were financed through grants from the Papua Provincial Government. On December 22, 2021, as many as 2,000 non-commissioned officers who have studied at 18 SPNs will be inducted and returned to the Papua Regional Police.
