KPK Appoints Ex-Director Of PTPN Suspect Of Corruption In Dozens Of Billions

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named former PTPN XI Production Director Budi Adi Prabowo as a suspect in connection with alleged corruption in the procurement and installation of a six roll mill at the Djatiroto Sugar Factory. He was named a suspect along with the Director of Wahyu Daya Mandiri, Arif Hendrawan.

"KPK has raised the status of this case to the investigation stage by announcing the suspect," said KPK Deputy Chair Alexander Marwata at a press conference at the KPK Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, November 25.

After being named as suspects, the two were detained in different detention centers. Budi is being held at the KPK Detention Center in the Merah Putih building, while Arif is being held at the KPK Detention Center Pomdam Jaya Guntur Branch.

The detention was carried out for 20 days from December 14. The number of witnesses examined in this case reached 85 people.

Alexander said this case began in 2015. At that time, Budi and Arif held a meeting which resulted in an agreement to install the milling machine at the sugar factory even though the auction process had not yet started.

"The suspect BAP as Director of PTPN XI for the 2015-2016 period, who was familiar with suspect AH, held several meetings," he said.

Not only that, Budi and his staff together with Arif also conducted a comparative study at a sugar factory in Thailand. However, Alexander said the visit was actually financed by Arief and money was given to the entourage.

"After the comparative study in Thailand, the suspect BAP ordered one of the staff of PTPN XI to prepare and process the auction, which would later be won by PT WDM," he explained.

To smooth this step, Arif has also prepared other companies so that it seems that an auction has taken place.

"In addition, AH is also active in the process of preparing technical specifications for the price of goods which is used as an initial reference in determining the self-estimated price (HPS) of Rp. 78 billion, including completeness data for the tender for the procurement of 1 lot of Six Roll Mill at PG Djatiroto," he said.

In addition, there was a gift of one car unit during the auction process from Arif to Budi. The two corruption acts cost the state finances up to Rp15 billion.

For their actions, Budi and Arif are suspected of violating Article 2 paragraph 1 and or Article 3 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption Crimes. . Article 55 paragraph 1 1 of the Criminal Code.
