Farmers In Banjarmasin Become Drug Dealers, Police Arrest Night Transactions

BANJARMASIN - Police arrested a farmer from the Narcotics Investigation Directorate of the South Kalimantan Police for allegedly controlling the distribution of crystal methamphetamine in the Fisherman's Village, Fisherman's Village, Sungai Tabukan District, Hulu Sungai Utara Regency.

"Six packages of methamphetamine weighing 409.99 grams were confiscated from the suspect with the initials PD (38)," said Head of Sub-Directorate 3 of the Narcotics Directorate of the South Kalimantan Police AKBP Niko Irawan in Banjarmasin, as reported by Antara, Thursday, November 25.

Niko said that the disclosure of narcotics trafficking in rural areas began with information from the public who suspected the suspicious activity of a local resident.

The Opsnal Team of Sub-Directorate 3 of the Narcotics Directorate of the South Kalimantan Police then conducted a search and monitored the movements of the suspected man.

Police in the early hours of Tuesday, November 23 arrested the suspect on Jalan Polder Utara Pandulangan, Alabio, Hulu Sungai Utara Regency, when he wanted to conduct a drug transaction. The search results found five packages of crystal methamphetamine weighing 409.70 grams and another package weighing 0.29 grams that the suspect plans to sell to the customer.

The police are still developing a network that supplies these illicit goods to the suspect, who works as a farmer and gardener.

Based on the confiscated evidence, investigators ensnared the suspect in Article 114 paragraph (2) sub-Article 112 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

"Drug trafficking has penetrated into rural areas, so people are advised to be vigilant and immediately provide information to officers if there is a suspicion," said Niko on behalf of the Director of Drug Investigation at the South Kalimantan Police, Kombes Pol Tri Wahyudi.
