When Terrorists Come To Elite Citra Land Housing In Kendari, Residents Hostage And Bomb Explodes

JAKARTA - A group of terrorists suddenly came to the elite housing area of Citra Land, Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi. They took the residents who live and work in the housing hostage.

The terrorists took hostage and threatened three residents by holding them and holding firearms.

The Gegana Team of the Southeast Sulawesi Brimobda Unit, which received information regarding the terrorist act, immediately moved quickly to the location of the incident.

Arriving at the location, Team Gegana received attacks and resistance from a terrorist group of eight people. There were five bomb explosions during the hostage release process.

The Gegana team managed to control the situation and neutralize the situation in no more than thirty minutes.

All terrorists were successfully neutralized. Five were pronounced dead on the spot and three others were captured alive.

After securing the remaining terrorists, the Jibom Team moved to secure the explosives. The team destroys the two remaining terrorist bombs.

In addition to explosives and firearms, terrorist groups have dangerous chemicals prepared to attack the apparatus.

The Radioactive Biological Chemistry Unit (KBR) is engaged in securing hazardous chemicals using various KBR equipment.

Don't worry, this is all just a simulation held by the Gegana Brimob Team of the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police (Polda) on Thursday, November 25.

The Commander of the Brimob Unit of the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police, Kombes Pol. Adarma Sinaga, said the simulation was a routine training agenda for his unit which is usually held every month.

"This is a routine exercise every month that aims to provide the ability, knowledge, and coordination between units to carry out a response to countermeasures against terrorist attacks and criminals who use firearms and explosives," he said as quoted by Antara.

Adarma said that his party did not have a specific reason for choosing Citraland Kendari as a training ground because all places have the potential and risk of becoming targets of terrorist acts.

"We chose this place because all places have potential but we are assessing it for a few places where an attack might occur," he explained.

He denied that the exercise was related to the upcoming Christmas Day 2021 and New Year's Day 2022 celebrations.

"This is a routine activity, all the time can be a potential attack incident so that at any time we can be prepared to be moved," he said.

In this exercise, the South Sulawesi Police Mobile Brigade Unit deployed 90 personnel from various units ranging from the Wanteror Unit, the Bomb Disposal Unit, and the Radioactive Biology Chemistry Unit (KBR).
