Supervised By Satpol PP, Cafe Owner In North Kemang Unloads Water Blocking Buildings

JAKARTA - The owner of the cafe building above the Bungur water connection channel on Jalan Kemang Utara, Bangka Village, Mampang Prapatan District, South Jakarta has begun to independently demolish the cafe building.

The activity of dismantling the owner is directly supervised by personnel from the South Jakarta Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) and Public Facilities and Infrastructure Handling Workers (PPSU).

A number of builders, as reported by Antara, Thursday, November 25, appeared to be dismantling the construction of the building from the second floor. The top and windows of the cafe, which are located above the water channel, have been dismantled, although not completely.

The South Jakarta Satpol PP also prepared trucks as a mode of transportation for cafe owners to move their goods and furniture. It was also seen that the rubble of the demolished building was put into a number of prepared sacks.

Previously, the Head of Bangka, Mampang Prapatan, Firdaus Aulawy Rois said that the building that was built on the water channel was demolished on Thursday afternoon.

Firdaus said the demolition would be carried out independently by the cafe building owner.

"This afternoon it will be dismantled, when the transfer of the goods is complete. We have prepared personnel to assist according to the owner's request," he said.

Polda Metro Jaya reported the existence of a cafe building above the North Kemang waterway to the South Jakarta City Government on Thursday last week because it was suspected to be one of the causes of flooding in the area.

There are at least five shop houses (ruko) that stand above the water channel of the Bungur Connecting River on Jalan Kemang Utara Number 33 RT 01/RW 04, Bangka Village, Mampang Prapatan District.

Of the five shophouses, two of them are used as cafes and one shophouse each is used as an office and bicycle repair shop and one shophouse is not used.
