Jokowi's Formula E Circuit Will Be Determined

JAKARTA - Formula E co-founder Alberto Longo from Formula E Operation (FEO) as the license holder of Formula E said the exact location of the Formula E circuit will be decided by President Joko Widodo.

This he conveyed in a press conference entitled "IMI Encourages Formula E Success in Indonesia" with the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI) Bambang Soesatyo.

"We will submit a proposal to the President of Indonesia. He will be the one who will make the decision. Before Christmas it will be announced," said Longo, Wednesday, November 24.

Currently, FEO together with the DKI Provincial Government will conduct a survey to the location that is a candidate for the electric car racing circuit.

After that, the team will make a feasibility study of the five locations before submitting the proposal to Jokowi.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI) Bambang Soesatyo revealed five selected locations, one of which will be chosen as the Formula E circuit. The locations range from Ancol to the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS).

"The five locations are in Pantai Indah Kapuk, Sudirman (area), JIS, JIEXPO (Kemayoran), and Ancol," said Bamsoet.

Bamsoet said he was proud of the electric car racing event. According to him, the Jakarta E-Prix will make Indonesia, especially Jakarta, more known to the world.

"E-Prix will take the names of Jakarta and Indonesia to a new level. E-Prix is more than a racing event, but also a signal that must be sent to Indonesia. We are ready," said Bamsoet.

For information, Jakarta will officially host Formula E on June 4, 2022. This decision was made through the FIA World Motor Sport Council in Paris, on October 15, 2021, which also ratified the calendar for the 8th season of 2021/2022.
