Karalloe Dam Expected To Reduce Flood Impact In Gowa

MAKASSAR - Acting Governor of South Sulawesi Andi Sudirman Sulaiman is optimistic that the presence of Bandungan Karalloe in Gowa Regency can reduce the impact of flooding, especially in the surrounding area.

Andi Sudirman Sulaiman said that while accompanying President Joko Widodo, inaugurating the Karalloe Dam, Gowa, Tuesday, November 23.

"Alhamdulillah, this dam is also useful for reducing flooding by 49.12 percent in Jeneponto. Of course it will be very helpful to reduce the impact of floods in Jeneponto Regency," he said, quoted by Antara.

The Karalloe Dam in Gowa Regency is not only able to irrigate 7 thousand hectares of agricultural land in Jeneponto Regency, but is also believed to be able to reduce flooding by 49.12 percent.

The Karalloe Dam is located in two villages, namely Garing Village, Tompobulu District, Gowa Regency and Taring Village, Biringbulu District, Gowa Regency, which is located 137 km southeast of Makassar City.

This dam has a Concrete Face Rockfill Dam (CFRD) type which has a height of 85 meters, with a peak length of 396 meters and a width of 10 meters.

With a total reservoir of 40.50 million M³, the inundation area is 145 hectares and the tunnel length is 583 meters. This dam is equipped with a platform for helicopters (helipad), phinisi monument, prayer room, guest house, mes, and even a hall.
