Normalization Of The Jakarta River Hasn't Started Yet, Gerindra: The Problem Is That Residents Are Difficult To Manage Land Acquisition Administration

JAKARTA - Secretary of Commission D of the DKI Jakarta DPRD from the Gerindra faction, Syarif explained the reason why the DKI Provincial Government has not carried out the river normalization program, especially on the banks of the Ciliwung River.

Syarif said that the obstacle in carrying out this program is that there are still residents who have not completed the administrative affairs of land acquisition.

In fact, he said, the DKI Provincial Government has prepared a budget to pay for residential land for residents to be acquired.

"The problem is that there is a land problem for residents who are difficult to administer. There is money, but apparently what we imagine is not as easy as land matters," said Syarif at the DKI DPRD building, Tuesday, November 23.

Syaeif gave an example, there are residents who cannot acquire their land because they are still in arrears in paying the land and building tax (PBB) for years.

Meanwhile, the DKI Provincial Government cannot bail out the citizens' tax payments to speed up the land acquisition process.

"Residents cannot pay PBB. If they want to be paid (land acquisition), the PBB must be paid off first. We can't call, the BPK is prohibited," said Syarif.

Therefore, Syarif said that his party had urged the DKI Water Resources Service to guide residents to immediately acquire their land.

Furthermore, Syarif said that currently the remaining land to be acquired is about 7 kilometers out of a total land area of 14 kilometers. "Maybe the beginning of the year, February, March, April 2022 it will be finished," he said.

Previously, the PDIP faction of the DKI DPRD asked the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, to increase the budget for the river normalization program next year. Because, during the four years he led, Anies had never worked on this program.

This was conveyed by members of the PDIP Faction Agustina Hermanto or Tina Toon in the general view of the PDIP Faction against the Jakarta Regional Regulation on the Regional Budget for the 2022 fiscal year.

"Although it's late because for the last 4 years, the Provincial Government has not done any normalization, we encourage this budget to be increased in 2022," said Tina at the DKI DPRD building, Tuesday, November 16.

In order to increase the normalization budget, Tina advised Anies to remove the budget for constructing infiltration wells or vertical drainage because they are considered not to have much influence in controlling Jakarta floods.

"Unclear programs such as infiltration wells are recommended to be removed and the budget allocated for river normalization," said Tina.
