JAKARTA - Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Mendikbudristek) Nadiem Makarim visited PBNU to provide clarification and at the same time ask for input as material for improving the PPKS Permendikbud.

"I would like to express my deepest gratitude to PBNU for its support for this policy. Although there are several notes that will also be our records," Nadiem said in a written statement quoted by Antara, Monday, November 22.

Previously, the General Chair of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) KH Said Aqil Siroj encouraged the need for improvements to Permendikbud Number 30 of 2021 concerning the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (PPKS) in Higher Education.

The main issue that has sparked a polemic stems from the phrase "without the consent of the victim" as stated in one of the articles in Permendikbudristek Number 30 Article 5.

Saiq Aqil emphasized one of the points about 'consensusality' cannot be used as an excuse for sexual relations without a legal marriage bond. Kiai Said emphasized that it was still not allowed.

Nadiem emphasized that his party was committed to accommodating recommendations and input from PBNU regarding the shortcomings in the regulation, especially in Article 5 Paragraph 2.

"I am committed to accommodating the records from the PBNU," he said.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Higher Education Prof. Nizam, who accompanied Nadiem on the visit to PBNU, said that a dialogue needs to be held to provide an explanation of Permendikbud No. 30 Year 2021.

"We continue to carry out various communications and dialogues. Mas Minister immediately went directly to meet various parties," he said.

Permendikbud Number 30 was promulgated on September 3, 2021. Nadiem has been discussing this rule since last year. At a meeting at the DPR in February 2020, Nadiem said he would look for a formula to erase the three sins of education.

The three sins include overcoming intolerance, sexual violence and bullying in education.
